A List....of Reasons Why I LOVE Having Boys

In light of recent events involving great friends and their great fortune to have had and/or be having more boys, here is a list of reasons I love being the Mom of boys. No offense to all the beautiful, sweet, wonderful little girls out there. They're so quiet, and cute, and they wear those pretty little dresses. But I digress. We are talking about BOYS here!

  • Boys teach their Mom things she never knew she wanted to know, like the names of all the Pokemon, or that it is possible to break a limb while watching television.
  • Boys get excited about things like camping in the basement, or eating lunch at Zellers.
  • Boys will ask to play outside in the sprinkler or wading pool anytime it is sunny, regardless of temperature.
  • Boys do the same things, acting goofy, climbing trees, wresting in the dirt, jumping into water fountains, whether they are wearing shorts and a t-shirt, or expensive dress up clothes.
  • Boys create sound effects for everything. EVERYTHING! Pushing toy cars. Flying toy airplanes. Putting garbage in the trash can.
  • Boys are low maintenance. Comfy clothes. Velcro shoes. With the right cut, you don't even have to brush their hair.
  • Boys can create the most creative and interesting stories out of any small bit of information.
  • Boys adore their Mommy, and grow up to be a lot like their Daddy!
There are many more reasons to love having boys. Feel free to add your own. And parents of girls, let's hear about them as well. (Maybe they like cold water fights and tell great stories as well. I just don't know.)

Congrats to all the parents of boys! When, one day, you find yourself reading a story about Professor Poopy Pants, who has recently changed his name to Tinkletrousers, think of all the things you would not have experienced if not for your boys. :-)

Love the pic of you guys, that is awesome!!! Yeppers, a lot of those things apply to my wee man too and great to know what I have to come, lol. If this kid is anything like his father was, I am in trouble!!

Hugs,
Deanna.

I have to say that the point about not brushing their hair is certainly one the best things about boys. I don't even think they own a brush or comb ;-)

Of course, the stress I feel when they take all the couch cushions and make a "slide" down the stairs is something I could probably live without....but hey, you take the bad with the good.

What about boys never run out of spit.

As a father of 2 girls I'm thinking I'm happy girls don't do a lot of those thing. lol

Girls don't get embarrassed to give you a kiss or a hug in public (not yet anyway)

Girls like to learn how to cook. :)

You get to brush girls hair sometimes.

Girls like boys. this is bad. sorry to all you boy owners.

The truth of the matter is they are all good. I enjoy doing stuff like play floor hockey with my nephews because I don't get to do that kind of thing much but I would never give up the time I get to spend with my girls baking and driving around listening to the girls and their friends singing pop music at the top of their lungs.

So my thought is enjoy what ever gender you have now they will grow up way to fast. Good thing there is GRANDKIDS :0

As a sister to four older brothers, I can add that the more adventurous and fun things when I was young were done with my brothers. The sister things were special, too, but in a very different way. The brother things are stories I still tell.
