Fall Arrives
It was fun while it lasted, but now is gone. Summer is over, and Fall has arrived. The cool green leaves have turned to warm yellow. The warm blue sky has turned to cool grey. In the backyard pool splashing all afternoon, and then an evening of smoky barbecue and cold beer, and neighborhood walks, has given way to crock pot creations, popcorn and movies, the warm fireplace and a glass of red. Fall, fall, falling. More on the ground than on the trees. The future? Snow, ice, sledding, skating. Angels and icicles and puffy jackets and presents. Change is good, even predictable, repetitive change. Summer ends every year, but each time it brings little surprises. Small changes to the routine that make it new. Fall feels like a new year, maybe from all those years of school. Starting over. Advancing. Learning new things. That is what Fall brings. Summer is full of energy and thrill, but Fall is breathtaking and energizing in its own right. Breathe in the crisp Fall air, and feel revived.

Oooh - this post has invigorated me! In a calm, peaceful way...:-) It makes me want to put on a cozy sweater, make sume CARAMEL tea and take the R-Man for a stroll. Hmmm....fall.
I LOVE FALL. Might be my fave season...and I think you hit on all the reasons why. :)
Beautifully written! Fall has always seemed more like a new year to me, than January 1st or spring-time. Love the emotions behind this post.
Fall has always brought me mixed emotions. I LOVE summer, so when it ends I am sad. But I also like the routine of "back to school" and the leaves really are beautiful. Even that lead up to Christmas is wonderful.
Perhaps if we could just skip over Jan-Mar (and all our birthdays could just be bumped a little) then the year would be perfect!
I have to agree with T, however if I never see snow again, or 'dead' trees/grass it'll be too soon.
I love the green of spring/summer so much that I never want to leave. I also like the long summer days so when the days get shorter it means one thing (to me)... frigid temps and snow/ice... blecch
