Look at the world through rose coloured glasses? I say why not!
Because it is, truly, a wonderful life.
1) Hot bubble bath. Cold drink. Dark chocolate. Trashy magazine. Miraculously, no sound from the kids. I am set for the week!
2) New Year's Eve, my Mom and I took the kids to Moxie's for dinner. It was awesome! They were so well behaved, (the kids and my Mom;-) patient and fun to be around. We laughed and talked and clinked our glasses of soda, which made the boys' evening.
3) Last night we played the noisiest, most physically taxing game of Monopoly ever. The Little One kept grabbing the houses, and moving the players' pieces. The older boys couldn't sit still, and my Mom and my husband were bartering constantly. What fun!!!
4) We rented movies on New Year's Eve. I got one that we have already seen. Has anyone else ever done this? Clearly losing my mind. My only saving grace is that my husband did the exact same thing a few months ago.
5) On New Year's Eve Eve, we left my Mom with all the sleeping kids and met some friends at The Ship and Anchor. We only had a couple of drinks and some fries, but I really enjoyed it! We saw some people we didn't expect to see, relaxed for a couple of hours, and caught up with friends.
Happy New Year, everyone. Remember to savour those little moments.

I'm guessing the 'cold drink' in the bath was a glass of wine ;-)
Your description of monopoly reminded me of the family antics that happen in my family when we play Risk.
Sounds like a fabulous New Year's Eve! The Ship, eh? I bet is was packed!
PS - I don't think I can ever have too many reminders to savour the small stuff...so don't stop reminding!
It is, truly, a wonderful life. Your family is blessed to have you. The abilty to stay positive and find the meaningful things in live, no matter how small or if it is only meaningful to you, will teach your boys more than anything else. You inspire me.
It's a mad mad mad mad world isn't it? Hard to keep it all in perspective at times, but I keep telling myself....one day the house will be empty of the chaos. What a lonely day that will be ;-)
I am being a voyeur and looking at all your stuff, Shawna, and I'm glad I did! VERY interesting, humorous, and so SMART!! I am so impressed with SMART!
Let's talk business for a minute.
I need to have a serious talk with you about my lifetime of photos and what you can do with and for me to get them organized. I will of course pay you exactly what anyone else would, because I am very aware of the work involved. I have tried hard to do some of it myself, and I just don't have the technical skills and knowledge. SO, your blog has generated another job for you!
Love to all of you,
Myrna
